ABOUT

If you could not already tell—I love my partner in life and rescue dogs, Mila the “Labrabull” and Cleo the Rat Terrier, who just happens to look like she’s having an existential crisis at any given moment! They mean the world to me, and when I’m not on a shoot, I’m usually within reach of one or each of them while editing or working away on my website. (Hey, just like right now!)

To give a little more detail on my background and experience, I started photography in 2010 with a compact digital camera that was gifted to me by my aunt, (Thanks, Martha!), mainly because my family was sick of me “wasting film” by taking photos of landscapes and objects with disposable cameras, as opposed to taking pictures with my friends as they expected me to do. However, I didn’t realize taking photographs was even my passion until becoming serious about it in an art class, where my teacher was also a freelance photographer on the side. I observed and began using Adobe Photoshop after completing my art assignments, and the rest is history. Well, I guess you could say it all is, but that’s when I realized my genuine interest in photography could become my career path, and that’s when I went for it.

In 2012, I moved to Dallas from Oklahoma City, and got a DSLR camera, also due to a supportive relative. I began doing small gigs for friends that either wanted Senior portraits, maternity photos, or other significant milestones photographed, and were also around my age and didn’t have a large budget to hire someone with more experience. Thankfully, some of those same supportive friends are still re-occurring clients on occasion, and have grew with me in the process. I photographed my first wedding in 2014, on Valentine’s Day, and have shot more than two dozen since then.

Since those beginning days, I have earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism from Southern Methodist University (my minor was Photography, of course, but only because it’s not allowed to be a major). That sparked my love for Videography too, and telling people’s stories through visual arts. After graduation, I got to work for someone who taught me so much more than I ever learned in a classroom (sorry not sorry, SMU) and that was for Mr. Dick Patrick, an international, third-generation photographer. I got to assist Dick in his studio for shooting national ads and campaigns predominantly of food brands and chains, such as Sara Lee, Longhorn Steakhouse, Hershey’s, and so fourth. (Enough name dropping, come on!)

Through the many experiences I have gotten to be a part of in the photography business this far, it has luckily lead me to here, writing to whoever the heck will read this far, (really, I appreciate it) and I hope I can continue to work with creative, incredibly talented, and downright awesome people. If you would like to know more, please shoot me an email or get in touch by filling out the contact form with your information so we can exchange. I would like to get to know you better too!
